Subject: 2 night run!
I was privileged to have been at both shows. I was never a big fan of this venue ( not the boys fault ) That said they really made a good run on both night. I can no more say which night was "better" then tell you my favorite Dead sing is, that's just impossible. Both nights had great jams and A LOT of energy, so much so I almost forgot I was in Charlotte Coliseum. Thanks for making this one available, been looking high, looking low... and these 2 boards are absolutely superb at translating the energy from both nights.

EDIT-My mistake meant to post this review on the streaming board show, still though point was made.

A shaky first set beginning, with Garcia not necessarily off but not steady either; an overabundance of cowboy songs makes me lose interest about mid-set. Nice Fadeaway, though.
It goes downhill from there. China Rider is a wreck; the rest of set 2 unremarkable.

Subject: The Fluff
Subject: The Fluff
This was my all-time best musical experience of my life.
I was with a buddy walking around the parking lot trying to score anything. The cops were out in force with even a helicopter flying around. Everyone was real sketched out, not wanting to sell. We decided to give up and started back to the car when a dude with a dog found us. I have never been able to thank that dude untill now, I hope he reads this. Anyway he had something he called the fluff. White-pale white blotter. Bingo.
I will swear until the day I die that the boys on stage were riding along too. It was the mostest bestest time I ever had with the dead. I listen to the show now after 13 years and there it is.
My friend called the opener 3 hours earlier so we knew it was going to be hot. They blasted through the first set Big River was just Smokinnn' and a Deal to close the set just right!
After a LOOONNNNGGG set break they came back with as just much fire not as hot but in for the long run. After a trippy space the Wheel turned me right back on to bew able to make it through good lovin and u.s. to finish. I went back to my campsite and crashed until 10:30 the next morning to get ready for the next night.
I difinately give the show a 5 but the recording a 3. Average a 4

There is a much better recording of this show on IA. Just search for the date. Soundboard even.

I just wanted to say thanks for getting a decent Aud. tape up of this show. I got there late (non-taper ride just didn't get the urgency of getting there early) and missed taping the first set. I got a copy from a very kind taper next to me, but this is a little better quality. I'll stick with my AKG 451's into the old D-10 for the second set if nobody mids, though. :)

The recording is pretty bad (where are the summer 92 oundboards?), but the Deal is amazingly one of the best versions of that song ever. While the 3-7-81 Deal is discussed for a Dark Star theme, this 92 version has an other wordly run by Jerry and the boys after the second verse. This Deal runs a very fine line between Dark Star and Deal for many gripping moments. The show is average (though it was great to be indoors after the scorchers at Giant's Stadium)except for the Deal (which is must have!!!)- though the post Estimated jam had some interesting licks by Jerry and Good Lovin' was very danceable. Get this for the Deal though- the stuff is fantastic. Overall 3 stars (due to recording quality first and foremost)but the Deal gets six!

So I decided to give this a listen since it's the 10 year anniversary of jerry's death and i realized i hadn't heard this show in years. anyway i just wanted to point out that the "jam" track after drums seems to have some over lap from the "drums" track before it. right at the start it seems like the last 30 seconds from the previous track start over again. other than that it's a pretty decent show for the time period

This was my one and only miracle show , and was well deserved . We got stranded the first two nights before in Jersey after driving all the way from Raleigh , just to turn around and go back to Charlotte . Anyway , very good sets , the boys were crisp and clean that night and was a heckuva way to kick of my first summer tour . Thanx for the memories..........
